What a fantastic 1000 foot drop Anthony Lakes has to offer...and I'm not talking about the ski area. This trail is more fun descending on a mountain bike than winter skiing on the slopes. The downhill isn't on the ski mountain, but nearby on the Elkhorn Crest Trail so you won't find a ski lift to take you to the top. Since there isn't any other way to be shuttled up to the top you'll have to ride it, or at least attempt too. The ride up is very technical and difficult but the descent will be well worth the effort. The marble rocks offer a myriad of challenges and drops, with several huckable natural jumps and a ripping fast trail on the run-out near the bottom. The trail is very wide near the bottom.
The trail starts at the parking lot for Black Lake and Elkhorn Crest Trail, just off the paved road near Anthony Lakes. It can also be accessed from the Anthony Lakes Campground via the trail that goes by Lily Pad Lake. You will climb to where it tops out at the wilderness boundary, just under Angel Peak. Enjoy the view on both sides of the pass, and then mob this trail. Most of this trail is for advanced riders!
(Note that the above map shows the descent only. Reverse the profile to examine the "ride" up to the top.)
