A nice combination of old roads converted to trails by some local enthusiasts. The granite composite surface makes the trails good in all conditions, except deep snow of course. The trails utilized closed fire roads and singletrack connectors to loop around in the high Elkhorns around Bear and Gorham Buttes. Be prepared for some short steep downhill sections.
Get there by taking Anthony Lakes highway toward the ski area. At a sweeping left hand turn, take a right onto a gravel Forest Road 7312. Start the riding at the second road intersection, where several roads come together.
Trail Notes
- Ride about 100 yards up Rd 7312 and enter the trails by going around a closed gate on the left (Rd 7315).
- Signage is absent, so try to follow the Hartz tracks or attempt to hang on their wheel if you find either of them up there.
- There are several loops that should bring your back to the parking area.
