Trail Description

Hiline is the dramatic trail that ends this mountain bike ride that circumnavigates Sedona, Arizona. The ride starts with a meander around Thunder Mountain and a traverse along the foothills above the north of Sedona. The Jim Thompson Trail is a fast rocky old jeep-road-converted-to-trail that rockets you over to Midgley Bridge. There, you cross under the bridge and plunge down to a ford of Oak Creek. Enjoy riding along the creek bed in the shade for a bit before a tough and technical climb up to the Schnebly Hill Trailhead. From there you unfortunately have to take the paved road through Sedona because Margs Draw Trail is wilderness. This will give an opportunity to stock up on water or food and then hit the Broken Arrow trail to pick up the singletrack again. The icing on the cake is when you experience the views on Hiline that has a double black diamond ending that is fierce. The whole experience is like riding inside a national park without the anti-bike restrictions that are so prevalent elsewhere (aside for Margs).

Trails include Lower Chimney Rock, Thunder Mountain, Teacup, Jordan Trail, Jim Thompson, Huckaby, Broken Arrow, Little Horse, Llama, Baby Bell, Hermit, Coconino, Hiline, and Baldwin. Twice you will cross Oak Creek. The first time is upstream after coming down from Midgley Bridge. The next time is after the descent of Baldwin Trail (which follows Hiline).
