Take a climb to the once thriving mining town of Cornucopia, on a gravel road that is literally a state highway. The town is now a ghost town and much of the building still removed but you can still see remnants of main street. The only permanent residents run the Cornucopia Lodge which is on the right before you cross the river to see main street.
On the climb up, you'll start to see remnants of the mining in the river and beside the river. The mines still have gold in them but not much activity is seen anymore on the steep mountains around the old town. Some of the old buildings have been moved down the mountain and can be seen on the drive (or ride) up to the gravel.
