Trail Description

This trail skyrockets you to an outer-worldly zone high in the Wallowas, and the highest lake in Oregon. Legore was all business getting to his mining operation, which you'll pass the cabin and mines at the end of the more-established trail. The zone and barren and visually unique as you wrap over to Legore Lake, tucked in an interesting shelf with dramatic views of the steep canyons into the Hurricane. Goats and sheep frequent the area and it is a somewhat local favorite for its easy access and quick height gain into the highest elevations of the Wallowas.

A few steps up the Hurricane Trail and you'll find this trail shooting off to the right directly up the mountain. Once you get past the cabin ruins and mines the trail disappears into a boulder field. You'll have to route find through this before entering a basin where you hunt for a primitive trail that takes you left (south) over a ridge to Legore Lake. Some head up to Sawtooth Peak here, which is more right.

The falls at the bottom ice up for convenient ice climbing certain times of the year but the rest of the winter is very dangerous for this big avalanche and ice dam fallout zone.
