Long Lake 1669 Trail - Eagle Cap Wilderness, Oregon

Take this side trail from Swamp Lake and you'll drop down to a decent size lake downstream from the headwaters of the North Minam. Long Lake is a scenic lake tucked in a basin by Minam Peak and Sturgill Peak. The trail isn't so well used and is pretty rugged in a few spots and difficult to navigate in a couple places, but overall easy enough to follow and rewarding in the end. I'd rate Steamboat or Swamp a better place to camp, but at this one campfires are good and you're more likely to have it to yourself. There is plenty of shoreline for exploring and fishing and some good cross country day hikes around the basin.
