Trail Description

In the heart of the Zumwalt Preserve, Patti's Trail takes a lollipop loop that is the best of the 4 trails in this area. The Duckett Barn and stockyard forms a scenic backdrop for this idyllic setting nestled in the prairie. The trail rolls over an edge to follow the beginnings of Camp Creek. Then it leaves the creek bed and circles back.

Cow paths abound so you need to stay heads up looking for the blue top fenceposts and arrows to help guide you on the intended path. Patti must have been pretty agile, because there are some high and steep stiles you use to cross several fences. The footing isn't great ether on the trail. In other words, don't expect a nice wide nature trail suitable for all ages, this is on the rugged side. At the far end, while circling back, you're left hanging a bit after crossing a style by some water tanks. You have to continue up to the next tank and look for some signage to basically follow the fence back toward the parking. The stiles are visible from a ways off so that is what you aim for if you are lost in the pasture.
